In 1969, Seiko made history by releasing the Seiko Speedtimer, the world’s first automatic chronograph with both a vertical clutch and a column wheel mechanism. This modern iteration of the Speedtimer pays homage to the original with a bold yellow dial beneath a curved sapphire crystal, echoing the distinctive look of the 6139 model. The second hand and the minute hand on the 6 o’clock subdial pop in vibrant red, bringing a touch of retro flair. Enhanced with 12 Lumibrite spots on each of the wide, vintage-inspired indices, this timepiece ensures optimal legibility in low light.
Following the classic design, this model also features a blue and red aluminum bezel with a tachymeter scale and an internal chronograph seconds scale around the dial. The bracelet tapers smoothly from the lugs to the buckle, adding to its sleek, throwback style.
Powered by Seiko’s V192 solar chronograph calibre, this Speedtimer recharges in both natural and artificial light and maintains accuracy to +/- 15 seconds per month, with a 6-month power reserve at full charge. As part of the Seiko Prospex line—a name derived from "Professional" and "Specifications"—this watch is crafted to meet the highest standards of practicality, reliability, and durability, ideal for extreme environments and adventure seekers alike.
